Development Sector Lead – South
Since studying Geography at the University of Nottingham, I spent a year undertaking research for BAA Heathrow and very nearly veered off to academia to study airport surface access strategies. However, the bright lights of the city were too much of a draw and instead I moved to London to pursue a career in transport consultancy, first at a multi-disciplinary planning firm followed by a move to JMP (now part of SYSTRA). I have since become a Chartered Transport Planner and developed a specialism in accessibility, providing transport planning and inclusive design advice to developers and designers. I now lead SYSTRA’s South Development Sector, covering offices in London, Reading, Bristol and Woking. Being part of large transport-focused company enables me to work on diverse and complex projects, drawing in expert skills from around the business, such as public transport connectivity, traffic modelling, streetscape design and travel planning. My job satisfaction comes from working within multi-disciplinary teams, designing high quality developments and public spaces that are accessible and well-connected. My work at Wembley Park has been particularly rewarding, with 1,200 homes already built and 5,000 more with planning, along with LSQLondon in Leicester Square nearing completion and Peninsula Hotel in Westminster currently emerging into the London skyline.
