Principal Consultant (Modelling & Appraisal) - London

We are looking to strengthen our team in the South through the addition of a Principal Consultant with a proven experience in developing financial models, business cases, providing related advice and be looking for your next step in your career. With the support of the Modelling and Appraisal and Transport Planning teams in London and across the UK, you will play a key role in delivering/managing projects and supporting business development activities.

Location: London

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing tasks/projects on financial modelling, business case developments and related projects
  • Financial management of projects
  • Proposal management
  • Skill transfer to junior team members
  • Staff Mentoring and line management
  • Client liaison and management
  • Identifying and effectively communicating client/project objectives
  • Meeting and negotiating with third parties on behalf of a client
  • Model quality assurance for investment/transaction decisions
  • Preparation and delivery of technical reports and presentations

To be successful in this role you will have:

Graduate level degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Transport Planning, Mathematics, Economics or Engineering)

  • Knowledge of Spreadsheet Modelling (following Modelling Best Practice Guidelines)
  • Awareness of industry standard processes and databases (LENNON, NRPS, NTS, etc.)

Experience of:

  • Project Management
  • Proposal Writing
  • Business Case Development
  • Working for bidders and the public-sector clients
  • Commercial Advice
  • Transaction Advice
  • Quality Assurance
  • Rail demand forecasting using industry standards (PDFH and WebTAG)
  • Cost Benefit Analysis of public transport schemes
  • Financial Modelling of public transport schemes
  • Operating Cost Modelling
  • Data Analysis and Problem Solving
