Climate Change Mitigation
Severe weather events are already occurring with increased regularity and therefore protection of properties and infrastructure from their impacts will also be required in addition to achieving Net Zero Carbon.
Climate Change is already causing rising sea levels and increased regularity of severe weather conditions across the UK, causing weather-related issues for our buildings and infrastructure such as flooding and wind damage. As a result, it is inevitable that even with comprehensive Net Zero Carbon strategies there will still be a need for increased levels of mitigation required to combat the impacts of these extreme weather events and rising sea levels.
Within SYSTRA we have the capability to assess and design sustainable mitigation and infrastructure protection schemes that aim to address the impacts of the Climate Emergency on our buildings and transport infrastructure.
This capability includes:
- Flood prevention and defence schemes
- Sustainable development drainage schemes
- Erosion protection
- Structural assessments and design for increased wind loading
