Paramics Discovery used to test the impact of 200 new houses near Newcastle
A Paramics Discovery model was developed by WYG to determine whether a housing development of 200 homes could be accessed directly from the North Brunton Interchange, a grade separated junction with the A1(T).
To reproduce the observed traffic congestion, the network of junctions around the interchange was modelled in Paramics Discovery. The junctions included traffic signals, a conventional roundabout, a signal controlled roundabout, priority junctions and slip roads with merges / diverges. The Paramics Discovery model also included a series of committed highway schemes.
On the successful completion of the modelling project, Highways England concluded that the junction would operate satisfactorily in 2030 with full Local Plan development traffic.
