Former Slough Library Redevelopment

THE CHALLENGE

SYSTRA Ltd were appointed by Slough Urban Renewal to provide transport and highways input to support a planning application for the redevelopment of the Old Library site; 85 High Street, Slough. The proposed development comprised two Marriott International Hotels; a 152 room Moxy Hotel and a 92 room Residence Inn Hotel, together with 62 PRS apartments and approximately 450m of ground floor retail space.

SYSTRA’S Role

SYSTRA prepared a Transport Assessment and Travel Plan to accompany the planning application, as well as liaising with Slough Borough Council and Green Parking to secure the use of the previously underutilized Burlington Road Car Park for the proposed hotels.

The development sits alongside a range of regeneration projects occurring within the town which are providing the ‘Heart of Slough’ with a number of opportunities for prime office space, PRS housing, and retail and leisure facilities. The proposals received approval at committee in July 2018.

With the various committed and proposed transport improvements in Slough and the surrounding area, the development will be highly accessible to Central London, Heathrow and Slough Trading Estate.”
